Documents | Emma Juliette Scorup Ward 1904 - 1975 OBITUARY: Daily Herald, Dec. 1, 1975 Boise, Idaho - Emma Juliette Scorup Ward, 71, of Boise, a former Provo resident, died of Kidney failure, Saturday November 29th 1975 in a Boise Hospital. She was born September 15, 1904 in Bluff, San Juan County, to Emma T. and John A. Scorup. She married Clarence J. Ward on Oct. 4, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died in August, 1961. Mrs. Ward was a graduate of Provo High School and Brigham Young University.She taught Home Economics in Parowan and Ogden High Schools. She did graduate work at Oregon State University and the University of Chicago. She was Professor of Foods at BYU for 7 years and served as Home Economic Supervisor for the Utah State Board of Education. She was a director in the YMCA, a member of the University Women's Group and active in civic affairs. She traveled extensively in Europe and the Orient. She is survived by 6 sons and daughters: Barbara Aldenberg, Roland C. Ward, Judith Karst, and John C. Ward all of Boise. Joan Zanot, Huston, TX; Coleen J. Ryan, Bakersfield, Calif.; plus 5 sisters: Edna Larsen, Laverde Gurney and Alberta Fairbourn all of Orem; Veda Williams and Caroline Polly all of Provo. Funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Boise |
Histories | Caroline Scorup Polly 1908 - 2005 NEWSPAPER ANNOUNCEMENT Daily Herald, Sunday, June 3, 1973 Mrs. Orville L. (Caroline) Polly and her son Kenneth Edward Polly, went to Boise, Idaho where they met Mrs. Polly's sister, Mrs. Clarence T. (Etta) Ward and together joined a tour company going to the Orient. During their more than two weeks of touring, Mrs. Polly and her sons visited Tokyo, Taiwan, and the Philippine Islands, Singapore, Maylasia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Honolulu Hawaii. They commented they were especially impressed with The courtesy and the hospitality of the people in the countries visited. |
